In 1911, a community of Danish settlers migrated west and came upon a sunny mesa nestled in the golden hills of the Santa Ynez Valley (CA). There they settled a village and called it Solvang, meaning "sunny fields" in Danish. Through the years, Solvang has become well known for its unique European architecture and customs. Most of all, Solvang has gained fame from its authentic Danish bakeries. Today, you will find our bakers hard at work, every morning at 3 o'clock, ensuring that the excellence of preceding generations is reflected in every turn of the rolling pin.
